FAQ
Do Fuori Rete really exist? Were they born from an egg?
A few questions for the Cosmic Fish studio in Camogli, the nest where they were born, and its creative director, Gaia De Paoli.
How did the Fuori Rete project come to life?
GDP : The Fuori Rete project was born from the desire to experiment with a "hybrid" creative process. I wrote the stories and lyrics traditionally, as I always have. Telling stories about Camogli has been natural to me for years, but the music required a very different kind of effort.
And so? How was the music composed?
GDP : I used Artificial Intelligence to generate countless musical fragments, carefully selecting those best suited for each track. I’d say it was almost like the work of a gardener: I pruned, regenerated, and nurtured new fragments, allowing them to grow into unexpected forms. Each cut and new growth contributed to creating unique and original flowers (tracks).
Finally, I reworked and assembled everything using audio editing software to ensure the highest quality. When we talk about AI, the obvious question is: was this music born from other music?
GDP : To ensure that the music was truly original, I used an AI based on Audible Magic, which verifies that tracks do not resemble existing songs. Moreover, I never referenced other musicians as inspiration during the AI-driven creative process. Every choice was guided solely by intuition and sound exploration, without explicit references to pre-existing artists. No shortcuts, just a lot of experimentation.
Whose voices are the two singers'?
GDP : The voices are digital. And they weren’t chosen randomly—I picked them because they are playful, full of energy, and, when needed, also romantic. Each performance was "crafted" to convey emotion.
A comment on the use of AI in this project?
GDP : Artificial intelligence has been used as a tool. Fuori Rete is the result of a blend where human artistic intention remains at the center. The idea is to explore new possibilities without losing the soul.
And the next step?
GDP : I dream that Fuori Rete’s music will return to human hands, played by real musicians and singers in the flesh. And that one day, we will all dance together under the sky of Camogli, with seagulls watching us from the rooftops, front row.
